Identification & Behavior: ~29.5 cm (11.6 in).  The Long-tailed Mockingbird has a patterned head and body in shades of gray and brown, and a long gray tail with white tips. It is relatively confident and rather vocal. It cocks the tail when on the ground. Juveniles are a dull version of the adults with pale underparts with spots that are lost after the first molt.

Status: The Long-tailed Mockingbird in the only mockingbird in its relatively restricted range. It is common in open and relatively dry habitats and also inhabits cities and parks. It also occurs in Ec.

Meaning of Name:  Mimus: L. mimus= mimica, imitar. longicauda: Longi=long, cauda=tail.
