Identification & Behavior: ~16 cm (6.3 in). The male Versicolored Barbet varies in coloration according to the sub-species. The most conspicuous varying element is the blue or yellow broad mustache. Females have a blue face, throat, and upper breast with a red chest crescent. The rest of the underparts are streaked.  The upperparts in both sexes are mossy green.  Males with yellow mustache resemble a male Lemon-Throated Barbet, but the Versicolored Barbet ranges at higher elevations. Status: The Versicolored Barbet ranges at elevations between 750 m to 2100 m on the montane forest of the east slope of the Andes. It is generally uncommon to rare. It also occurs in Bo.

Name in Spanish: Barbudo Versicolor.

Meaning of Name: Eubucco: Gr. Eu= elegant and bucco= cheek. versicolor: L. multicolor.
