Status: The Plain-breasted Ground-Dove is uncommon to rare in semi-open and disturbed habitats along the central and northern coast of Peru and the Marañon drainage. It also occurs in scattered locations on the eastern foothills of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.
Name in Spanish: Tortolita Menuda.
Sub-species: Plain-breasted Ground Dove (Columbina minuta minuta), Linnaeus 1766.
Meaning of Name: Columbina: L. referring to a small version of the family Columbidae. minuta: L. minuta, minutus= small.
