Identification & Behavior: ~16 cm (6.2 in). The Plain-breasted Ground-Dove is uniformly grayish with spots on the wings. The bill is gray. The tail is black with white thin terminal margins. The webbing in the primary flight feathers and underwing coverts are rufous. It is very similar to the slightly larger Ecuadorian Ground-Dove but is distinguished by a different arrangement of black spots on the wing and by having rufous webbing in primary flight feathers and underwing coverts. Status: The Plain-breasted Ground-Dove is uncommon to rare in semi-open and disturbed habitats along the central and northern coast of Peru and the Marañon drainage. It also occurs in scattered locations on the eastern foothills of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Tortolita Menuda.

Meaning of Name: Columbina: L. referring to a small version of the family Columbidae. minuta: L. minuta, minutus= small.
