Identification & Behavior: ~33.5 cm (13.1 in). The Spot-winged Pigeon is gray with white spots on the wing coverts and a white band on the wings. The color structure is similar to that of the West Peruvian Dove, but their ranges are not known to overlap. It is frequently seen in small flocks in open habitats, hedges, and agricultural fields.
Status: The Spot-winged Pigeon is fairly common at elevations ranging between 2500-4100 m. It also occurs in Br and Bo.

Sub-species: Spot-winged Pigeon (Patagioenas maculosa albipennis), (P. L. Sclater and Salvin) 1876.
Meaning of Name: Patagioenas: Gr. Patageö= noise, noisy and Oinas= dove. maculosa: L. maculosus, spotted, maculare, macula= with stain, stained.
