Identification & Behavior: ~20 cm (7.8 in). The Bolivian Recurvebill is mostly rufous-brown. The throat, upper breast, head, and sides of the neck are streaked with rufous. The bill is dusky and thick with an upturned mandible. It forages in the understory of humid montane forest and also in stands of bamboo. It is very similar to the Peruvian Recurvebill but ranges at higher elevations on the east slope of the Andes, and have a dusky bill.
Status: The Bolivian Recurvebill is uncommon in humid montane forests of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 750-1200 m. It also occurs in Bo.

Meaning of Name: Syndactyla: Gr. sun= together and daktulos= toe. striata: L. stria, striatus= furrow, striated.
