Identification & Behavior: ~18.5 cm (7.2 in). The Olive-backed Foliage-gleaner has an olive-brown back, wings, and top of the head. The tail is rufous. The throat is buffy white. The rest of the underparts is brownish. It forages in the understory of the forest is Amazonia almost always in the company of the mixed species flocks. The contrasting buffy-white throat is shared with the Dusky-cheeked Foliage-Gleaner, which is largely restricted to bamboo stands and cane thickets in varzea and floodplain forests.

Status: The Olive-backed Foliage-Gleaner is uncommon and widespread in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 600 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Hoja-Rasquero de Dorso Olivo.

Sub-species: Olive-backed Foliage-gleaner (Automolus infuscatus infuscatus), P. L. Sclater, 1856.

Meaning of Name: Automolus: Gr. automolos,  automoleō=  deserter, to desert. infuscatus: L. infuscus= dusky, blackish, infuscatus= dusky.
