Identification & Behavior: ~11 cm (4.3 in). The Slate-crowned Antpitta has a gray cap and nape area. The rest of the upperparts are brown.  The forehead and loral areas are rusty along with most of the underparts. It has a pale center of the belly. It is similar to the Leymebamba Antpitta, but these antpittas are not known to overlap.

Status: The Slate-crowned Antpitta is uncommon in humid montane forest at elevations ranging between 2200 – 2900 m only on the north and west of the Marañon River. It also occurs in Co and Ec.
