Identification & Behavior: 23 cm ( 9 in). The Orange-backed Troupial is mostly orange with a black face and bib. The wings and tail are also black. The bill is black with a bluish base of the mandible. It has a blue orbital bare skin around the eye and a pale iris. It generally favors forest edges, second growth, and agricultural plantations. It is the only orange and black oriole in Amazonia but see Oriole Blackbird.
Status: The Orange-backed Trupial is fairly common and widespread in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 1,500 m along the foothills of the eastern Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.
