Identification & Behavior: ~39.2 cm (15.4 in). The Andean Potoo is overall brown with an intricate pattern of mottling and streaking in shades of gray, brown, and black. The iris is yellow. It has white wing coverts in the form of a white patch on the shoulder area. It is smaller than the Long-tailed Potoo and ranges higher along the east slope of the Andes. Status: The Andean Potoo is rare and apparently local on the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 1400-2600 m. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Bo.
