Identification & Behavior: ~16 cm (6.2 in). The Russet Antshrike is mostly rufous-brown. The throat and breast are tawny-rufous. It has a buffy-brown eyebrow and reddish iris. Other than that. it does not have noticeable markings. It forages in the mid-story of humid montane forest. The plumage pattern resembles that of a Rufous-rumped Foliage-Gleaner but the behavior and jizz are different. Also, see a female Uniform Antshrike.

Status: The Russet Antshrike is uncommon in humid montane forests of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 600-1600 m. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Bo.
