Identification & Behavior: ~12 cm (4.7 in). The White-browed Conebill has gray upperparts and rufous underparts. It has a broad and long white superciliary and dusky malar stripe. Both sexes are similar. It forages in humid montane forest, montane scrub, and elfin forest, almost always with mixed species flocks. It is similar to a Chestnut-bellied Mountain-Tanager but is distinguished by a broad white superciliary and smaller size. Also, see Blue-backed Conebill.
Status: The Blue-browed Conebill is uncommon in montane forests and scrub of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 2600-4100 m. It also occurs in Bo.

Sub-species: White-browed Conebill (Conirostrum ferrugineiventre), P. L. Sclater, 1855.
Meaning of Name: Conirostrum: L. conus= cone and rostrum= bill. ferrugineiventre: L. ferrugo, ferruginis= iron rust, ferrugineus= rusty and venter, ventris= belly.
