Identification & Behavior: ~13 cm (5.1 in). The Orange-banded Flycatcher has olive mantle and crown with a semi-concealed yellow crown patch. The wing coverts are black with two broad yellowish wing bars. The lower mandible is orange with a black tip. The iris is pale and has a pale eye ring.  The breast is yellow-olive turning yellow towards the rest of the underparts. It forages in the canopy of humid montane forests where it often perches on top of leaves or branches sticking out of the treetops. It regularly follows mixed-species flocks. It is similar to the Ochraceous-breasted Flycatcher, but their ranges are separated by the Marañon Valley.    

Status: The Orange-banded Flycatcher occurs in a small area in extreme northeast Peru at elevations ranging between 2400-2750 m, on the north side of the Marañon Valley. It also occurs in Ec.

Name in Spanish: Mosquerito de Franja Naranja.

Sub-species: Orange-banded Flycatcher (Nephelomyias lintoni), (Meyer de Schauensee), 1951.

Meaning of Name: Nephelomyias: Gr. nephele= cloud and myias= flycatcher. lintoni: In honor of Morris Albert Linton (1887-1966) US businessman, actuary, wildlife photographer.
