Meaning of Name: Columbina: L. referring to a small version of the family Columbidae. cruziana: erroneous typonim after the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The Croaking Ground-Dove is found on the coast of Peru and Ecuador. It does not occur in Bolivia.
