Identification & Behavior: ~22 cm (8.6 in). The Curve-billed Scythebill is mostly rufous-brown. The head, neck, and underparts are streaked with buffy. The bill is long, red or reddish, and heavily decurved. It forages in the midstory of the forest in Amazonia in extreme northeast Peru on the east side of the Napo River. It is very similar to the Red-billed Scythebill, but these species segregate each other in non-overlapping ranges.

Status: The Curve-billed Scythebill has been reported only from a few localities on the east side of the Napo River. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Br.

Name in Spanish: Pico Guadaña de Pico Curvo.

Sub-species: Curve-billed Scythebill (Campylorhamphus procurvoides sanus), J. T. Zimmer, 1934.

Meaning of Name: Campylorhamphus: Gr. Kampulos, kampto= curved, to bend and rhamphos= bill. procurvoides: name of a species Dendrocolaptes procurvus Temminck, 1821, and Gr. Oides= resembling. One that resembles a Dendrocolaptes procurvus.
