Identification & Behavior: ~10.5 cm (4.1 in). The Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant has greenish-gray upperparts. The inner secondary flight feathers are edged with buffy. The sides of the head, breast, and belly are cinnamon. The immature has less saturated colors. The iris is dark. The lower mandible is mostly yellowish. It forages in the understory of stunted forest growing in nutrient-poor soils and in second growth. The adult plumage is unique but the immature may resemble the Buff-throated Tody-Tyrant. Status: Endemic. The Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant is uncommon to rare in a small range that includes areas on the north and south of the Marañon Valley on the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 1700-2200 m.

Name in Spanish: Tirano-Todi de Pecho Canela.

Sub-species: Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant (Hemitriccus cinnamomeipectus), Fitzpatrick and O’Neill, 1979.

Meaning of Name: Hemitriccus: Gr. hemi, hemisus= small, half and trikkos= unidentified small bird. cinnamomeipectus: L. cinnamomum or cinnamum= cinnamon and pectus, pectoris= breast.
