Status: Endemic. The Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant is uncommon to rare in a small range that includes areas on the north and south of the Marañon Valley on the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 1700-2200 m.
Name in Spanish: Tirano-Todi de Pecho Canela.
Sub-species: Cinnamon-breasted Tody-Tyrant (Hemitriccus cinnamomeipectus), Fitzpatrick and O’Neill, 1979.
Meaning of Name: Hemitriccus: Gr. hemi, hemisus= small, half and trikkos= unidentified small bird. cinnamomeipectus: L. cinnamomum or cinnamum= cinnamon and pectus, pectoris= breast.
