Identification & Behavior: ~34.5 cm (13.5 in). The Semiplumbeous Hawk is white below and bluish gray above. The cere, lores, areas around the eye, and legs are orange. The tail is black with a single median white band. The Semiplumbeous Hawk forages in the forest interior. The combination of bluish gray and white is unique its very restricted range, but see White-browed Hawk and Short-tailed Hawk.

Status: The Semiplumbeous Hawk is reported from a small area in Loreto. Records of this species come from both sides of the Amazon River frequently visited by ornithologists. The Semiplumbeous Hawk may be more widespread but overlooked in northeast Peru. It also occurs in on the west side of the Andes of Co and Ec.

Name in Spanish: Gavilán Plomizo.

Meaning of Name: Pseudastur: Gr. Pseudo= false and Astur= relating to gender Astur. semiplumbeus: L. semi= half, small and plumbeus= gray, leaden; half plumbeus.
