Identification & Behavior: ~13.5 cm (5.2 in). The male Large-billed Seed-Finch is jet black with a thick pale bill. It shows a white wing speculum. The female is brown overall with warmer brown underparts and dusky bill. It forages in tall grass that grows at the edges of rivers and oxbow lakes. The male is distinguished from the similar male Black-billed Seed-finch by a pale bill and smaller size. The female is smaller and lighter brown. Also, see Chestnut-bellied Seed-Finch.
Status: The Large-billed Seed-Finch is poorly known within its range, which is mostly the Department of Loreto. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Br.
