Identification & Behavior: ~12 cm (4.7 in). The Ashy-headed Greenlet has olive upperparts and gray head. The breast is yellow with a light gray rest of the underparts. The iris brown. The bill is brown. It forages in semi-deciduous forests, forest edges, and scrub. It is similar to the Lemon-chested Greenlet but their ranges are not known to overlap.
Status: The Ashy-headed Greenlet is common in its very restricted range in the middle Huallaga Valley. It also occurs in Br and Bo.
Name in Spanish: Verdillo de Cabeza Ceniza.
Sub-species: Ashy-headed Greenlet (Hylophilus pectoralis), P. L. Sclater, 1866.
Meaning of Name: Hylophilus: Gr. hule= woodland, forest and philos= lover. pectoralis: L. pectus, pectoris= breast; pectoralis= of the breast, pectoral.
