Identification & Behavior: ~32 cm (12.5 in). The Festive Parrot has a narrow purple forehead and blue top of the head. The bill is dark. The outer half of the extended wing is blue and dusky, readily seen in flight. The adult has a red rump while the rump in the juvenile is green. The tail is solid green, square, and relative short. It is distinguished from the Orange-winged Parrot and other Amazon parrots, by having no red on the wings and tail, and a red rump in adults. Also see the smaller Short-tailed Parrot.
Status: The Festive Parrot is uncommon along major Amazonian rivers, oxbow lakes, and other river created habitats. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Br.
