Identification & Behavior: ~13 cm (5.1 in). The Unstreaked Tit-Tyrant has brownish upperparts without wing bars. It has a narrow black crown and crest bordered by a broad gray superciliary. The head and most of the underparts are faintly mottled with gray and dusky. It forages in humid montane forests often accompanying mixed-species flocks and also mono-specific flocks. It is often associated with Chusquea bamboo. It is superficially similar to the Ash-breasted Tit-Tyrant but is distinguished by lacking the white wing bars, by having paler underparts, and by not being associated with Polylepis woodlands.

Status: Endemic. The Unstreaked Tit-Tyrant is uncommon to rare in humid montane forests of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 2600-3450 m.

Meaning of Name: Uromyias: Gr. oura= tail and L. muias= fly, myias= flycatcher. agraphia: Gr. a= negative prefix and graphos= lines, writings; agraphos= unwritten.
