Identification & Behavior: ~12 cm (4.7 in). The Olivaceous Greenlet has olive upperparts and head. The underparts are olive-yellow though it looks uniform olive in the field. The iris is pale brown. The bill is brown. It forages in the canopy and sub-canopy of forest edges, second growth, and broken forest on the east slope of the Andes.  It is similar to the Gray-chested Greenlet but their ranges do not overlap.

Status: The Olivaceous Greenlet is fairly common but very local in montane forests of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 750-1700 m. It also occurs in Ec.

Name in Spanish: Verdillo Oliváceo.

Sub-species: Olivaceous Greenlet (Hylophilus olivaceus), Tschudi, 1844.

Meaning of Name: Hylophilus: Gr. hule= woodland, forest and philos= lover. olivaceus: Mod. L. olivaceus= olive-green, olivaceous.
