Identification & Behavior: ~13 cm (5.1 in). The Yellowish Pipit has brown upperparts streaked with black, brown, and whitish. It has a pale malar stripe narrowly bordered by blackish. It has a pale superciliary and yellowish mandible. The underparts are pale to yellowish with dusky streaks on the breast and sides of the belly and flanks. The tail is brownish with white outer tail feathers. The legs are pink. It is the only pipit in its range in Peru. It does not overlap with the very similar Peruvian Pipit.

Status: The Yellowish Pipit is rare in open habitats generally associated with grasslands and edges of agricultural fields. It is also rare in the savannah habitats in Pampas del Heath in Madre de Dios. This pipit is colonizing cattle pastures and agricultural land in parts of Madre de Dios. The Yellowish Pipit also occurs in Br and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Cachirla Amarillenta.

Meaning of Name: Anthus: Gr. Myth. Anthos= small, brightly colored bird mentioned by Aristotle
lutescens: L. lutescens, lutescentis= muddy-colored, somewhat muddy.
