Identification & Behavior: ~13 cm (5.1 in). The Gray-breasted Flycatcher has a gray mantle, head, and breast. The belly is whitish. The wing coverts are black with two white wing bars. The bill is bicolored. It has a pale loral line and a pale eye-ring. It forages in the understory of semi-deciduous forests. It is similar to the Alder Flycatcher but is distinguished by an overall gray plumage, smaller size, and by foraging in the forest interior. Status: The Gray-breasted Flycatcher is generally uncommon to rare in the semi-deciduous forest of northwest Peru where it is known to range up to 1200 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Ec.

Name in Spanish: Mosquerito de Pecho Gris.

Sub-species: Gray-breasted Flycatcher (Lathrotriccus griseipectus), (Lawrence), 1869.

Meaning of Name: Lathrotriccus: Gr. lathrios= secret and trikkos= unknown small bird. griseipectus: L. griseum= grey and pectus, pectoris= breast.
