Identification & Behavior: ~11.5 cm (4.5 in). The Cinnamon-faced Tyrannulet has a greenish-olive mantle. The crown is gray. It has a broad and bright cinnamon superciliary bordered below by dusky lores. The bill is black. The wing coverts are dusky edged with yellowish forming two poorly defined wing bars. The underparts are yellow. It forages in the canopy and subcanopy of humid montane forests. It is similar to the Mottle-cheeked Tyrannulet but is distinguished by having a gray crown and cinnamon superciliary. It does not overlap with the Rufous-browed Tyrannulet.

Status: The Cinnamon-faced Tyrannulet is uncommon in montane forests of the southeast slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 650-1550 m. It also occurs in Bo.

Name in Spanish: Moscareta de Cara Canela.

Sub-species: Cinnamon-faced Tyrannulet (Phylloscartes parkeri), Fitzpatrick and Stotz, 1997.

Meaning of Name: Phylloscartes: Gr. phullon = leaf and skairo= to skip, to dance. parkeri: In honor of Theodore ‘Ted’ Albert Parker III (1953-1993) US field ornithologist with unparalleled knowledge of Neotropical birds, tragically killed in an air crash.
