Identification & Behavior: ~13.5 cm (5.4 in). The Two-banded Warbler is yellowish-olive above and yellow below. It has short and narrow yellow-olive superciliary and dusky stripes on the crown. The center of the forehead and crown olive-rufous. It is very similar to the Golden-bellied Warbler but is distinguished by a narrow and shorter superciliary that does not go beyond the eye, by having a broken yellow eyering, and by ranging at lower elevations.

Status: The Two-banded Warbler is uncommon in the understory and bamboo thickets in humid montane forests of the east slopes of the southern Andes. It generally occurs at elevations ranging between 750 -1500 m. The Two-banded Warbler also occurs in Br and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Reinita de Dos Bandas.

Sub-species: Two-banded Warbler (Basileuterus bivittata bivittata), d’Orbigny and Lafresnaye 1837.

Meaning of Name: Basileuterus: Gr. basileus= king, basileuteros= more kingly. bivittata: L. bi, bis = double, twice and vittatus, vitta= banded, ribbon.
