Identification & Behavior: ~12 cm (4.7 in). The Green Manakin is all green with a yellowish center of the belly and undertail coverts. It forages in the mid and understory of the humid montane forest. It similar to a female Yungas Manakin but is distinguished by having a yellowish center of the belly and undertail coverts.

Status: The Green Manakin is uncommon in montane forests of the east slope of the Andes at elevations ranging between 400-1100 m. It also occurs in Co and Ec.

Name in Spanish: Saltarín Verde.

Sub-species: Green Manakin (Xenopipo holochlora holochlora), (P. L. Sclater), 1888.  E slope of Andes and adjacent lowlands from Colombia (S from Meta) S to C Peru.
(Xenopipo holochlora viridior), (Chapman), 1924.  E slope of Andes in SE Peru.

Meaning of Name: Xenopipo: Gr. xenos= stranger; Mod. L. pipo= manakin. holochlora: Gr. holos= entire and khloros= green. Holokhloros= all-green.
