Identification & Behavior: ~25.5 cm (10 in). The Peach-fronted Parakeet is green above and two-toned yellowish below. The bill is black. It has a peach-colored forehead and turquoise top of the head. It has a wide cream-colored eye ring. The peach forehead and broad eye ring are diagnostic but see Tui Parakeet.
Status: The Peach-fronted Parakeet is only known in Peru from the Pampas del Heath in extreme southeast Peru where it is fairly common. It also occurs in Br and Bo.
Name in Spanish: Cotorra de Frente Dorada.
Sub-species: Peach-fronted Parakeet (Eupsittula aurea), J. F. Gmelin, 1788.
Meaning of Name: Eupsittula: Gr. Eu= good and psittula, psitta= parakeet, parrot. aurea: Gr. Gold color, gold.
