Identification & Behavior: ~13 cm (5.1 in). The Cinnamon Flycatcher has an olive-brown mantle and crown, and rufous-chestnut sides of the head and underparts. The tail is dusky. The bill and legs are black. The wing coverts are black with two broad rufous wing bars. It forages at forest edges where it perches on exposed branches. It superficially resembles an Ochre-bellied Flycatcher and a McConnell’s Flycatcher but it forages in outside the forest perching on exposed branches and ranges at higher elevations.

Status: The Cinnamon Flycatcher is common and conspicuous in montane forests of the east and west (Piura and Cajamarca) slopes of the Andes at elevations ranging between 900-3400 m. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Mosquerito Canela.

Meaning of Name: Pyrrhomyias: Gr. purrhos= flame-coloured, red and muias= fly; piazo= to seize. Myias= flycatcher. cinnamomeus: kinnamomon or cinnamon= cinnamon, cinnamomum or cinnamum= cinnamon.
