Status: The White-bellied Antpitta is fairly common in the humid montane forest of extreme northeast Peru where it is found only on the north and west side of the Marañon River. It ranges at elevations between 1700 – 2100 m. It also occurs in Co, an Ec, Br.
Name in Spanish: Tororoi de Vientre Blanco.
Sub-species: White-bellied Antpitta (Grallaria hypoleuca castanea) Chapman, 1923.
Meaning of Name: Grallaria: L. grallarius, grallae= one walking on stilts. hypoleuca: L. Hupo= beneath and leukos= white.
