Identification & Behavior: ~41.5 cm (16.3 in). The Andean Teal has a dusky head with the rest of the body brown with black scales and mottles. The bill and legs are dusky. It forages at the edges of bodies of water and wet grasslands. The Andean Teal is distinguished from Yellow-billed Teal (Speckled Teal) by a darker and more uniform coloration and dark bill.  Also, see Yellow-billed Pintail.

Status: The Andean Teal is uncommon in the Andes of extreme Northern Peru. It is also known to descend to the western lowlands of northern Peru.

Name in Spanish: Pato Paramuno.
