Identification & Behavior: ~26 cm (10.1 in). The Cream-colored Woodpecker is buff-yellow with brown wings. The male has a red malar stripe. The color pattern of this woodpecker is unmistakable. It favors varzea forests where it forages alone or in pairs at mid-story.
Status: The Cream-colored Woodpecker is fairly common in varzea forest in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 600 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.
Name in Spanish: Carpintero Crema.
Sub-species: Cream-colored Woodpecker (Celeus flavus flavus), Statius Müller 1776.
