Identification & Behavior: ~42 cm (16.5 in) (male), 32 cm (12.5 in) (female) . The Dusky-green Oropendola is uniformly dusky-green. The bill is pale yellowish. The tail is yellow with a dusky-green central pair of feather and dusky on the outer tail feathers. It is structurally similar to a Russet-backed Oropendola but is distinguished by being uniformly dusky-green and by ranging at higher elevations. It generally does not show a yellow forehead, but young birds and some adults do show a yellow forehead.
Status: The Dusky-green Oropendola is fairly common on the east slope of the Andes from Huanuco south to Bolivia at elevations ranging between 800-2600 m. It overlaps with the pale-billed and yellow forehead subspecies of Russet-backed Oropendola. Both species may interbreed in some areas of overlap. The Dusky-green Oropendola also occurs in Bo.
