Identification & Behavior: ~15.5 cm (6.1 in). The Yellow-throated Flycatcher has a greenish-gray mantle and gray wings with the coverts edged with whitish. The sides of the head are blackish. It has a semi-concealed yellow crown patch. The throat is yellow. The bill is black. The underparts, like the throat, are bright yellow. It forages high in the canopy of Terra-Firme forest in groups of the same species or with mixed species flocks. It is very similar to the Three-striped Flycatcher but is distinguished by foraging in the canopy of Terra Firme forest and by very different vocalizations. Separating these two species in the field without their vocalizations may be challenging.

Status: The Yellow-throated Flycatcher is uncommon in northern Amazonia where it appears to be restricted to the department of Loreto. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Mosquero de Garganta Amarilla.

Sub-species: Yellow-throated Flycatcher (Conopias parvus), (Pelzeln), 1868.

Meaning of Name: Conopias: Gr. konops, konopos= gnat, mosquito and piazo= to seize. parvus: L. parvus= small, little, short.
