Status: The Foothill Elaenia is only known from a small area in the Cordillera Vilcabamba. It was first described on the eastern Andes of Ecuador at elevations ranging between 1000-1500 m, and it is likely it occurs in other locations in between. The Foothill Elaenia also occurs in Ec.
Name in Spanish: Fío-Fío Submontano.
Sub-species: Foothill Elaenia (Myiopagis olallai), Coopmans and Krabbe, 2000.
Meaning of Name: Myiopagis: Gr. muia, muias= fly and pagis= trap, snare. olallai: In honor of Alfonso Maria Olalla (1899-1971) Ecuadorian professional collector in Amazonia.
