Identification & Behavior: ~29 cm (11.4 in). The Rufous-breasted Seedsnipe has an ornate and intricate plumage that can be described as having a “scalloped effect”. The belly is rufous. It walks on the ground and can be difficult to detect if the bird remains still. As other seedsnipes, it is nomadic and seems to follow seeding events generally in small flocks. It utters a distinctive call when it takes off. The range of the Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe overlaps with that of Grey-breasted Seedsnipe.
