Identification & Behavior: ~31.3 cm (12.4 in). Male and females Ecuadorian Trogon have red bellies and black underside of the tail. Adult males are iridescent green, have a narrow white breast band, noticeable pale iris, and yellow-orange bill. The female is dusky gray, has a noticeable pale iris, and a bicolored bill (dark culmen). The Ecuadorian Trogon is similar to the closely related Black-tailed Trogon, but their ranges do not overlap.
Status: The Ecuadorian Trogon is uncommon in the deciduous forest of extreme northwest Peru at elevations ranging from 400-1200 m. It also occurs in Ec.
