Identification & Behavior: ~13.5 cm (5.2 in). The Drab Water-Tyrant is all brownish with pale lores and superciliary, and a broad and diffuse eye ring. The bill and legs are black. It forages alone or in pairs near the ground at the edges of rivers in Amazonia. It is similar to the Little Ground-Tyrant but is distinguished by uniform plumage, pale lores, and superciliary, and pale around the eye.

Status: The Drab Water-Tyrant is common and widespread in Amazonia. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Tirano de Agua Arenisco.

Sub-species: Drab Water Tyrant (Ochthornis littoralis), (Pelzeln), 1868.

Meaning of Name: Ochthornis: Gr. okhthos= bank, mound and ornis, ornithos= bird. littoralis: L. litus, litoris= shore, beach, litoralis, littoral= of the shore.
