Identification & Behavior: ~48 cm (19 in). The Pink-footed Shearwater has grayish-brown upperparts and white underparts. The bill is pink with a black tip. The feet and tarsi are pinkish.  The underwing is white mottled with grayish-brown.  It forages in pelagic waters. It is similar to the light morph of Wedge-tailed Shearwater but is distinguished by larger size, and by mottling on the underwing.

Status: The Pink-footed Shearwater is an uncommon non-breeding visitor expected in the coast of Peru during the month of March through November. It also occurs in Co, Ec, and Ch.

Name in Spanish: Pardela de Pata Rosada.

Sub-species: Pink-footed Shearwater (Ardenna creatopus), Coues, 1864.

Meaning of Name: Ardenna: L. Ardenna or Artènna= Name given to the Diomedean or seabirds in some Italian dialects. creatopus: Gr. kreas, kreos= flesh and pous, podos= foot.

Formerly known as Puffinus creatopus (2018).
