Identification & Behavior: ~10.5 cm (4.1 in). The male Parrot-billed Seedeater has gray and brown upperparts with dusky mottles and streaks and white wing bars. The throat is black bordered by white. The breast is black grading to pale on the rest of the underparts. The throat and breast pattern are variable. The female is brown above and lighter brown below. Both sexes have a massive parrot-like bill, which is orange in a breeding male and dull orange in a female. It forages in the shrubbery of forest edges, fallow agricultural fields, and hedges. It is similar to a Drab Seedeater but is distinguished by a massive parrot-like bill.

Status: The Parrot-billed Seedeater is common to fairly common in the coastal lowlands where it is known to range to elevations of up to 600 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Ec.
