Identification & Behavior: ~22.5 cm (9 in). The Ash-throated Crake has gray sides of the head, neck, breast, and belly. The back of the neck is olive with the rest of upperparts mottled olive brown. The bill is greenish and legs brownish. The flanks and vent are black with white bands. It is similar to the Gray-breasted Crake, but I distinguished by much larger size, grayish legs and bill, and gray mottled back.
