Sub-species: Yellow-throated Spadebill (Platyrinchus flavigularis flavigularis), P. L. Sclater, 1862.
Meaning of Name: Platyrinchus: Gr. platus= broad and rhunkhos= bill. Platurrhunkhos= broad-billed. flavigularis: L. flavus= yellow, golden-yellow and gula, gularis= throated, throated.
