Identification & Behavior: ~8.5 cm (3.3 in). The Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin has greenish upperparts and olive-yellowish underparts. It forages in the understory and midstory of Amazonian forests where it is often heard but difficult to see. It often sings while motionless on a perch. The iris is pale brown. It is similar to the Sulphur-bellied Manakin and Saffron-crowned Tyrant-Manakin but is distinguished by larger size and much longer tail.

Status: The Dwarf-tyrant Manakin is common and widespread in Amazonia where it is known to range up to 800 m along the foothill of the Andes. It also occurs in Co, Ec, Br, and Bo.

Name in Spanish: Saltarín-Tirano Enano.

Sub-species: Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin (Tyranneutes stolzmanni), (Hellmayr), 1906.

Meaning of Name: Tyranneutes: Gr. turanneuo, turannos= tyrant, to be a tyrant.
stolzmanni: In honor of Jan Sztolcman (1854-1928) Polish zoologist, collector in tropical America 1875-1883, Conservator of Birds at Zoological.
